It was a beautiful day to fly a kite...

Cleaning out the garage has its perks. We came across our one lonely little kite, but due to the hectic nature of life, I once again forgot that we had it until the Monkey Man asked if it was windy enough to fly a kite today. And although math was not 100% finished, dirty dishes cluttered the sink and three loads of laundry needed to be started, we marched out the door with our little kite in hand. There is a large empty lot at the end of our street next to the playground that is perfect for flying a small kite.

I wasn't sure how long a kite would hold their interest, after all, this is the computer age and flying a kite might not be as thrilling as feuding with minions of voracious beasts or clones on the internet! Much to my surprise and pleasure, I witnessed two children filled with great joy, dancing around the field with a little dinosaur kite! They laughed and screamed and jumped and ran, dodging the kite when it took nose-dives! It was sheer heaven to watch them, so full of innocence, enjoying something so simple! And they even SHARED! It was strange, like I was being granted a moment of respite from the fighting and the whining because they were so focused on the object in flight, they forgot to piss each other off!

So it was a beautiful day to fly a kite and a beautiful day to play with my kids!

I know, it had been years for me too. We bought this kite when the Monkey was maybe 3 1/2 and I don't think we've flown it since. We're lame!
